Adventures In Solitude is about one man's journey from a young boy who was not into nature who turned into a man who has come to enjoy it a lot more of it that he use to. But not really. I mean, Grant Lawrence fishes and swims and enjoys a semi-modern life in Desolation Sound. Yet he comes across as spending much of his time drinking and eating and not really much else. An area deep within a national park it allows the folks here to live all alone. Well, outside of the neighbors. Not really wilderness and not really paved over. And he seems to spend much of his time, when there, drinking and being...well...kind of stupid.He gets into the history and beauty of the area. And there is funny stories and humor in every chapter. But it felt mundane...like I could be reading Mark Twain and I had somehow was reading a novelization of "Meatballs". Funny but not really as thoughtful or profound as I had hoped.
